What is Stamped Concrete?
Unlike gray or “regular” concrete, stamped concrete is colored with your choice of over 40 different colors. While the concrete is being poured and is still “wet”, the surface is embossed or stamped with a texture or pattern that can resemble stone, brick, slate, tile or wood. Stamped Concrete is perfect for new construction and upgrades to patios, driveways, walkways, pool decks, or just about any outdoor living area.

Here are some decorative methods:
- Decorative Joints: Place exposed aggregate in bands or fields separated by joints, wood divider strips, or bands of contrasting decorative treatments.
- Stains: Use chemical stains to highlight elements in a pattern of exposed aggregate.
- Various Concentrations: Easily create the look of a gravel pathway by using high concentrations of aggregate at the surface.
To finish and seal the exposed aggregate all that is required is applying a transparent concrete sealer. A sealer will serve to protect against freeze-thaw damage, staining, deicing salts, and abrasion. A sealer will also enhance the color of the aggregate, accentuating its depth and richness.
Exposed aggregate concrete is a product we love using due to its versatility. No two projects are alike!
Stamped Concrete VS. Brick Pavers & Stone
COLORS & DESIGN OPTIONS
Unlimited design and layout options. With over 40 colors to choose from and dozens of different stamped patterns, each installation is a unique show piece.
Varies from manufacturer. Usually an offering of 5-6 shades of a neutral color. Traditionally the bricks are square or rectangular in shape and are field cut as needed to fit the installation.
LONGEVITY & STRUCTURAL PERFORMANCE
Like conventional concrete, stamped concrete is a seamless surface that will provide decades of service when properly installed and maintained. We add steel reinforcement and/or wire mesh to help increase strength and to control cracking. The concrete is rated at minimum 3500PSI.
Similar to Stamped Concrete when installed and properly maintained. Because brick pavers are individual units or “puzzle pieces” they tend to shift and separate over time especially during freeze/thaw cycles and vehicular traffic.
MAINTENANCE
Low maintenance. Should be re-sealed every 2-3 years.
Moderate to high maintenance. Should be re-sealed every 2-3 years. Weed and moss growth in the joints. Refilling the joints with sand as needed. Possibility of damaging the plastic snap edging that contains the pavers in place during routine lawn maintenance.
COST
(DEPENDS ON COMPLEXITY OF PROJECT AND SITE CONDITIONS $4500 Minimum)
Average $17 – $18 / Sq. Foot
Average $20+ / Sq. Foot
